A domain you already own - example.com or www.example.com - can become the address of a Genaya site. You keep the domain at your registrar; Genaya only needs two DNS records there, one proving you own the name and one routing visitors to the site. You can also buy a new domain right in Genaya (see Buy a domain in Genaya); here you connect one you already own.

  1. 1
    Open Domains and connect

In Marketing -> Websites click the site, then press Connect domain on the address strip under the top bar (it lands on Dashboard > Domains), or switch to Dashboard and open Domains. In the Custom domains card type the hostname (www.example.com or example.com) into the Domain to connect field and press Connect domain. It needs the Websites publish permission and the Pro plan or above - the trial and the Individual plan publish on the genaya.site link and see the plan card instead of the field.

  2. 2
Add the two records at your registrar

The domain appears as Waiting for DNS with a small table of the records to add - Type, Host, Value, each with a Copy button. A TXT record at _genaya-verify.<your domain> with the value genaya-site-verification=<token> proves ownership. The routing record is a CNAME from the subdomain (www) to connect.genaya.site, or, for a bare domain (example.com), an A record to the address shown in the table. Paste them into the DNS page of the company that sold you the domain.

The records to add at your registrar - copy each value; the check runs on its own.
  3. 3
    Check now, or wait

Genaya checks the records the moment you connect and keeps checking on its own - every few minutes at first, then less often; Check now runs a check right after you save the records. DNS changes can take up to an hour to show. When both records answer, the row reads Verified, securing and the secure connection (https) is issued for you, usually within a few minutes.

  4. 4
    Connected

The row turns Connected, the first connected domain becomes the site's Primary address, your organization's email address gets a note that the domain is live, and visitors reach the site at https://<your domain>. Open shows it; Make primary on another connected domain moves the primary address; Disconnect removes a domain - its secure connection is dropped at once and the genaya.site link keeps serving.

Waiting for DNS
The records have not been found yet. The row says which one in plain words; add or correct it at your registrar and press Check now.
Verified, securing
Both records answer; the secure connection is being issued. Nothing to do.
Connected
The site answers on the domain over https. The genaya.site link keeps working alongside it.
Needs attention
A record changed or the secure connection could not be issued. The row names the problem; fix the record at your registrar and press Check now.
infoPlan and limits: connecting is included - no fee, no credits - on the Pro plan and above ("Connecting your own domain is available on the Pro plan and above." is what the trial and the Individual plan read, with a View plans button). Per website: 0 on the trial and Individual, 2 on Pro (6 across the organization), 5 on Business (50), 10 on Enterprise (no organization cap). When a plan change takes a domain past those numbers it keeps serving for 30 days - the Domains card prints "Serving until" the date and you are emailed at the start and three days before the end - then it is disconnected and the site answers on its genaya.site link; upgrading inside the 30 days keeps it with no new setup. A domain already connected to a Genaya site cannot be connected twice; anything under genaya.site or genaya.com, and IP addresses, are refused.
lightbulbGenaya AI does it too: "connect www.example.com to my site" shows a confirm card that names the records you will add; confirm, and the domain appears on Dashboard > Domains (and on the address strip once it is primary) with the exact values. Undo within 15 minutes disconnects it. On the phone, the Websites tab shows a site's connected domains and their records read-only; connecting, Check now, Make primary and Disconnect are on the web.
