  1. 1
Open the site and press Edit

In Marketing -> Websites click the site. The site opens under one top bar: Back, the Preview | Dashboard switch, Edit, the page dropdown (every page with its address, Add page at the bottom), the desktop, tablet and phone toggle, and on the right a palette icon for Look (the whole site's colors and fonts - see How to change colors and fonts by hand), Full screen, Undo / Redo (shown only while there is something to take back or put back), the three-dot menu, Publish and, right-most, Ask Genaya. The preview is the real renderer - what you see is what a visitor gets. Pick the page from the dropdown and press Edit - it shows pressed while it is on, for members with the Websites edit permission. Ask Genaya always reopens your own conversation about this site - the one that built it, when you built it by chat - never a new chat; press New chat in the panel when you want a separate thread.

  2. 2
    Hover, then click to select

With Edit on, moving the mouse over the page draws an outline in the site's accent color that previews what a click there would pick: a whole section - Hero, Why us, Services, How it works, Trust, Reviews, FAQ, Contact - or, over one word, a photo, an icon or a card inside it, that ONE element. Click to select exactly what sits under the pointer - a headline, a paragraph, a button, a photo, an icon or a single card selects that element, and the toolbar's first chip names what it is (h1, h2, p, button, img, icon, or card, step, row, badge, stat or photo for an item in a list); click empty space in the section and the section itself is selected, the chip showing its number and label. The outline stays and a floating toolbar appears, keyed to what you picked - see "The full toolbar, left to right" below for the whole list. Click another section or element to move the toolbar there; press Escape, or Close on the toolbar, to deselect.

Hover for the outline and the label, click for the toolbar - the page itself is the editor.
  3. 3
Double-click to type on the page

A headline, a paragraph, a button label, a FAQ question and its answer, an item's link label and its tags, a trust-band ticker word, and the hero card's label, value and caption are all editable in place: double-click the words and type (a double-click on a section that is not selected selects it first). Enter on a one-line field, or a click away, keeps the new text; Escape puts the old words back. The change lands in the draft at once - there is no Save draft to press - and the live site does not move until you Publish; Undo puts the old words back if you change your mind after it saved. Prices, reviews, hours and phone numbers are not typed here - a record that comes live from Genaya (a service card, a review, a team member, your hours, a form field) prints a line naming where to change it (Items and Services, Engage, Settings) with an Open link, and a counted number ("31 reviews") prints "Genaya counts this for you. It cannot be typed."

  4. 4
Style text, or change the whole look

Click a headline or a paragraph and the toolbar shows its text tools: a color swatch (Default plus the site colors that read on that section's band - Primary, Accent, Text and Muted on a light band, On dark and Muted on a primary or dark band - or a custom hex checked against the band at 4.5:1), Font, Size (a picker of 18 fixed pixel sizes), Weight and alignment - one element at a time. For the whole site's colors, fonts, corners, spacing, motion and light-or-dark mode at once, open the palette icon Look in the top bar instead; see How to change colors and fonts by hand. Either way, every change saves as you go and reaches visitors on the next Publish.

  5. 5
Change an icon, or move a card

Click an icon on the page and the toolbar shows Icon: a searchable grid of the glyphs the site can draw - pick one and the page shows it. Click a card, a step, a row, a badge, a number or a gallery photo inside a section and the toolbar shows Move left, Move right, Duplicate and Remove for that one item. A list keeps the fewest items its section needs, so Remove turns off at that point, and Duplicate turns off when the list is full. Items that come live from Genaya (your services, reviews, team) are not moved here - the buttons stay gray with the reason in the tooltip; change them where they live. Each change saves behind you, and Undo takes it back.

  6. 6
Change a section's layout and fill

With a section selected, the toolbar's Layout button (the tooltip reads "Layout, fill and variant") opens a panel headed "Layout" with the line "How this section is arranged.": pick one of that section type's own layouts (Hero offers Split or Statement, About offers Framed or Statement, Why us offers Bento or List, How it works offers Timeline, Trust offers Inline or Marquee, Reviews offers Editorial, Call to action offers Band, Card or Split, Gallery offers Masonry, FAQ offers Two columns - Classic is always first, and a type with no layouts of its own, like Services, shows no Layout row), a Fill swatch painted from your own palette (Surface, Tint, Primary, Dark) and a Variant chip (Default, Centered, Split or Compact - Default clears it). Layouts come with an art direction - on a site without one the panel says so and points you to asking Genaya AI to redesign the site with one first. A pick shows on the page at once and saves as you go.

  7. 7
    Track clicks on a button

Click a button or a link in Edit mode and the toolbar shows Track clicks. Give the click a short name (2 to 40 lowercase letters, numbers or underscores, like book_now) and, if you want, where it should go - a page, a section, a web address, an email or a phone number - then Publish. From that moment every click on it is counted by name on Dashboard > Analytics > Events; nobody adds an attribute or pastes code. Genaya AI never sets or changes the name or the destination for you - the header button and the footer links are edited where they live (Dashboard > Settings, the footer's Section data), not from a page click.

  8. 8
Edit the fields of a section

Section data on the toolbar - shown only when the type still has fields with no element on the page - opens a compact floating window anchored beside the section, under its toolbar: which services or categories it lists, which form or booking page it uses, which photos from Files, the rows of a Why us, How it works or Trust section (an icon picker over the same 40 glyphs the site draws, then the title and the sentence, with Move up, Move down, Remove and Add), the FAQ rows, the footer's links, and any switches the type needs. A text typed there shows on the page at once; the foot of the window reads "Saved as you go" as you type. Close (or Escape, or a click outside the window) puts it away. Nothing docks to the side of the page and nothing covers the preview for long.

  9. 9
Replace, regenerate or crop a picture

A photo field opens Choose from Files (or Add photos from Files for a gallery) - your organization's Files picker, images only, which uploads too. Each picture gets a "Describe the photo (alt text)" line; Change the photo swaps one and Remove takes it out. Next to Replace photo and the alt box, a picture the page already shows also carries Photo tools, to regenerate it with Genaya AI or set its focal point; see How to replace, regenerate or crop a picture.

Photos come from your Files - pick one, describe it, done.
  10. 10
Add, move, duplicate or remove sections

Move up and Move down reorder the page; Duplicate copies a section you may have more than once (a second gallery, another services block) right under the original - it turns off with "A page holds up to 12 sections." once the page is full; Remove this section asks "Remove this section?" once and takes it out. Each of those changes the page at once - nothing reloads - and saves the draft behind you; Undo and Redo in the top bar (Cmd/Ctrl+Z, Shift+Cmd/Ctrl+Z or Cmd/Ctrl+Y) take a change back, one step at a time. Code, at the end of the row, opens Dashboard > Code on this page, read-only. Privacy, Terms and the legal footer are mandatory and cannot be removed; their text is editable under Dashboard > Settings (a legal page has a fixed layout).

  11. 11
    Add or remove a page

Add page - at the bottom of the page dropdown in the top bar - asks for a name (Gallery, Pricing, a service or a town) and shows the address it will get; the new page opens with a starter headline for you or Genaya AI to write. It refuses the words shop, store, cart, checkout and orders for a new address ("\"shop\" is reserved for the site's store. Pick another address for this page.") - a page already living at one of those addresses keeps it. Remove this page - the last row of a page's Page settings, behind the gear at the end of its row in that dropdown - asks once ("Remove the <page> page?") and the page leaves the draft on the next Save draft of that sheet; Discard brings it back before that. The home page refuses in one sentence and the legal pages are never offered. Pages count against the pages per site your plan allows.

  12. 12
    Page settings

Every row of the page dropdown in the top bar ends with a small gear, Page settings. It opens that page's settings beside the page: the Title, the Path (the home page is always /; any other page's address is kept web-safe as you type), Show in the menu, the Search title and Search description, Appear in Google (this page) - off keeps that one page out of search and out of the sitemap while the rest of the site stays listed - then Move up and Move down to order the pages, and Remove this page at the bottom. This sheet is the one place that keeps its own buttons: its foot reads "Unsaved edits" while you type, Save draft keeps the changes in the same draft the page edits use (a change you then make on the page carries them too), and Discard drops them.

  13. 13
    Publish

Every change on the page - typed text, a picked color, a moved section, a swapped photo - saves to the draft as you go; the toolbar and the Section data window carry no Save draft button, only the Page settings sheet keeps one for a page's own title, path, menu and search settings. Undo and Redo are the safety net, one step at a time. Visitors see nothing until you press Publish at the right end of the top bar. The address strip under the top bar reads "Edits not published" until you do.

infoEvery image needs alt text (the photo field asks for it), pages have one H1 and headings in order, and colors are contrast-checked - so the pages Genaya renders are built to the same WCAG 2.1 AA bar Genaya's own Accessibility Statement describes for its products. The words and photos you put on them stay yours to keep readable - the photo field asks for alt text for exactly that reason.
lightbulbEdit mode edits the description of the page, never its code: a section can only be one of the library's types with the fields that type has, so nothing you click can break the layout, the mobile view or the accessibility checks. To see the rendered files, open Dashboard > Code.
infoThe header, the menu and the footer are edited right where they stand, like everything else on the page. Double-click the site's name, a menu item, the header button or a line of the footer and type; the change is saved for you (the name is your website's name, and on a website Genaya AI wrote as a project a renamed menu item renames the page it leads to - a menu label is at most 3 words and 22 characters). Click one of those texts once and the toolbar shows the same text tools a headline has: the color swatch, Font, Size, Weight and alignment. Click the empty background of the header or the footer (or of an app's sidebar or top bar) and the toolbar shows Background: type a color and press Apply, and Use the theme's color puts the original back. Undo and Redo cover the sections of a page; to take back a look of the header or the footer, pick Default in the same tool. A color that would be hard to read is refused with one sentence that says why - text needs a contrast of 4.5 to 1 against what is behind it - and nothing changes. A phone number, an address or your opening hours come from your company profile and your business hours, so they are picked but not typed. These changes show in the draft at once and reach the public site when you publish.
The full toolbar, left to right
The tag chip, Edit with Genaya AI, the text tools (Text color, Font, Size, Weight, alignment), Track clicks (a button or link), Icon (an icon), the item tools (Move left / Move right / Duplicate / Remove), Replace photo plus the alt box and Photo tools (a picture), Layout, Fill, Spacing, Section data (only when the type still has fields with no element on the page), Move up, Move down, Duplicate (off with "A page holds up to 12 sections." at the cap), Remove this section, Code, Close - only the tools that apply to what you picked ever show.
Text size
A text element's Size control on the toolbar is a picker of 18 exact pixel sizes - 12, 14, 16, 18, 20, 24, 28, 32, 36, 40, 48, 56, 64, 72, 80, 96, 112 and 128 - pick the one you want; a page saved before 2026-09-17 with an older named size (xs to 2xl) keeps showing that word until you change it.
Genaya AI sees your pick
Click a headline, a photo, an icon or a card and it rides into the docked Genaya AI chat as a small chip naming exactly what you selected; whatever you type next is about that one thing. The chat also always knows which page you have open, the desktop, tablet or phone view and whether Edit is on, so "make this shorter" or "it looks cramped on the phone" needs no page name.
