Your legal name must end with the right designator for what you are forming: LLC, L.L.C., or Limited Liability Company for an LLC; Inc., Incorporated, Corp., Corporation, Company, or Limited for a corporation. On the Company details step you can also list up to 3 alternative names, included at no extra cost, in case the state rejects your first choice as too similar to an existing business name.

  1. The state reviews your first-choice name and bounces it if it conflicts with an existing business name.
  2. If you listed alternatives, Genaya tries the next name on your list automatically.
  3. If every listed name is rejected, or you did not list any alternatives, the filing moves to Needs attention with the specific reason.
  4. You add a new name directly in Genaya and the filing resumes - no new order, no new charge.
warningA name conflict is the single most common reason a filing needs attention. Listing 2 or 3 real alternatives up front avoids the back-and-forth entirely.
